Mother Wura Safe in the Scrub (Lockdown)

Lockdown procedures do not need to create fear.
With the right story, they can create understanding.

Mother Wura: Safe in the Scrub (Lockdown) is a culturally respectful Early Learning course that helps kindy children understand lockdown through calm, story-based teaching. Grounded in the gentle wisdom of Aboriginal culture, this course supports educators to talk about safety in a way that builds emotional resilience—not anxiety.

Children are guided by Mother Wura, a kangaroo elder who protects her joeys when danger is near. She does not rush or panic. She listens. She trusts her instincts. She shows her young ones how to stay calm, quiet, and connected—until it is safe to move again.

Teaching Lockdown Through Culture, Not Fear

Lockdown can feel scary. The silence, the stillness, the change in routine—children notice everything.

But fear is not the only story we can tell.

This course gives you a new way to introduce lockdown. One rooted in story, nature, and culture. One that empowers children to understand what is happening and why—without overwhelm.

The Heart of Mother Wura

Mother Wura is not just a character.
She is a symbol of strength, wisdom, and care.

She shows children that stillness is brave.
That listening is powerful.
That they are never alone, even when they must be quiet.

This course creates space for that learning—without pressure, without fear, and always with heart.
