Weaving Culture, Connection, and Creativity
This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the traditional practice of Aboriginal weaving, guided in a culturally safe and respectful way.
Through this creative and calming experience, participants explore the cultural meaning, mindfulness, and community connection woven into every strand of this ancient practice.
About the Workshop
Weaving has been practised by Aboriginal peoples for thousands of years, with techniques, patterns, and stories passed down from generation to generation.
In this one-hour session, participants are guided step-by-step to create either a simple bracelet (ideal for younger learners) or a small basket (perfect for older participants and adults).
While learning the techniques, you’ll also discover the cultural significance of weaving — how it connects people, communities, and Country.
Weaving is more than art; it is a way of sharing stories, nurturing wellbeing, and celebrating culture.
