Our Torres Strait Islander Cultural Awareness session builds understanding through action, story and connection. Matilda Christensen, a proud Torres Strait Islander descendant, leads participants on a journey of discovery. Every story opens hearts and minds. This two-hour session costs $150 + GST per person. It suits 10 to 30 participants and runs on Saturdays or evenings. The program delivers practical learning and personal reflection that inspires genuine change.

The training highlights the diversity of the Torres Strait Islands and their ongoing connection to land, sea and culture. Participants explore kinship and community roles that shape Torres Strait Islander life. Matilda explains how families stay strong through care, respect and shared responsibility. She introduces the Torres Strait Islander Flag, its colours and symbolism. The session also celebrates language as a living link to culture and identity.

The session begins with an introduction to the Torres Strait—its geography, history and significance. Participants learn about the island groups and their unique identities. They discover the deep cultural ties that connect families, clans and communities. Each topic builds a richer understanding of what it means to live with Country.
